In the midst of COVID uncertainty and gloom, there were real shining bright spots this summer. For sure one of them for me was capturing Hannah and Benjamin’s wedding! When they got in touch with me about photographing their wedding at the Woolverton Inn, I was really touched. Unlike the majority of my 2020 clients, Hannah and Benjamin specifically planned their wedding in 2020 after the start of the COVID pandemic. Sometimes love just can’t wait! Their wedding was a welcome reminder that the power of love in the midst of life’s greatest challenges is truly a gift. With significant health concerns within their family, it was beautiful the way Hannah and Benjamin worked carefully with their families to make sure everyone stayed safe and healthy.
One of my favorite moments of the day was the very first. It was a moment where my experience and understanding of how wedding timelines unfold really came in clutch. Hannah had meticulously planned her timeline so that each important moment played out perfectly. Knowing that we only needed a minute or two to walk to the ceremony on site, I suggested to Hannah that we had plenty of time to coordinate a special moment with her dad. Unbeknownst to me, her dad was facing surgery. Being able to breathe and be in the moment was so extraordinary. Making time for emotions to unfold on your wedding day is the best gift you can give yourself.
I got an incredible note from Hannah after the wedding. “I am so happy you had me get photos with my parents – you were right and I’m so glad you didn’t rush that moment. Because of you I got to send my dad some photos of us from the wedding to keep in his mind as he goes into surgery this morning to remove his cancer.”
That’s the kind of moment that means everything to me as a wedding photographer. So grateful to Hannah and Benjamin for putting that kind of trust into me on their wedding day.
