the PROCESS

All about the next steps

1. initial consult

Reach out via contact form or email. I'll check availability for your date and set up a meeting to go over any questions you have.

Each wedding is unique, so I create a custom proposal for each of my couples. This ensures that pricing is based on exactly what you want and need, nothing you don't. Most couples spend about $7500-9500 for a full day of coverage.

2. custom proposal

3. LOCK in your date

Once you've decided to move ahead (yay!) your signed contract and retainer payment secures your date.

4. Portrait session

It's always fun to get to know each other during a pre-wedding portrait session. It's also a great opportunity for you to experience a moment in front of the camera, shake off any nerves, and maybe get dressed up for date night.

5. One Month to go

A month before the big day we'll touch base about logistics. You'll complete a quick questionnaire that will give me everything I need to understand the flow of your day and your priorities.

6. The day of

I arrive, ready to hit the ground running, and celebrate right alongside you!

You can expect your full gallery of images about 4 weeks after the wedding.

After the photos are delivered, I'm yours for life! Expect me to be with you every step of the way, helping you edit and design an album, choose a special image to frame, or plan a special gift.

7. And happily ever after

LET'S DO IT!

Frequently asked questions

HAVE YOU EVER WORKED AT OUR VENUE?

I think better a question might be: “Have you photographed a wedding similar to ours?”, followed by: “And can we see a full gallery?" I've been photographing weddings for 25 years, and it's still possible that I have not photographed your venue. However, it's likely I've photographed a wedding in a similar venue, with similar lighting conditions as yours. If I haven't worked at a venue before, I make a site visit, typically the week before the event, to determine lighting and location opportunities. Photographers LOVE seeing new places, so I assure you, I'll be thrilled for you to introduce me to your venue!

ARE YOU A DOCUMENTARY/EDITORIAL/FILL-IN-THE-BLANK STYLE PHOTOGRAPHER?

The terminology around wedding photography can be opaque and confusing! Don't worry if you're not exactly sure what "photojournalistic" or "editorial" or "documentary" wedding photo styles mean. Honestly? Those terms have gotten muddled. The important thing to know is that my style is a mix of primarily candid images, with a priority on moments and emotions; details to give context and color, and a few formal images to document your family tree. The best way to know if we're a fit is to ask yourself if you love the images you see here, and does this approach resonate with you? I hope that it does!

WHAT HAPPENS IF equipment fails?

I work with multiple cameras and formats on the day of a wedding, ensuring that if one camera malfunctions, a few others are also in rotation at the same time.

WHAT IF WE'RE AWKWARD OR INTROVERTed?

Confession: I’m an introvert who plays extrovert at work. So introverts have my heart! Most of us feel a bit nervous when the camera comes out. My advice (based on dozens of years of shooting) is to focus on your partner and do your best to ignore me. A portrait session beforehand, where we establish a connection and you have a chance to be photographed, is a great opportunity to feel more comfortable with the process and enjoy some time together!

DO WE NEED A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?

Many couples choose to add a second photographer as part of their coverage. A second shooter offers different, complementary views of the day, which is nice to have. It’s also another layer of insurance that if something happens to me at the event (I just knocked on wood!) coverage continues.

I require a second photographer at events with more than 150 guests, and offer it as an option at smaller gatherings.
