I remember talking with Meg and Tom before their micro wedding at the Northridge Barn. What struck me was the intentionality in their planning. Sometimes couples book their smaller sized weddings much closer to their date, even last minute. But Meg and Tom reached out a year in advance. Meg is a very accomplished maker, and was excited about handcrafting special details for her and Tom, and for their guests.
They’ve been together for more than a dozen years and it’s plain to see that they have deep respect and trust in each other. Each choice they made planning the wedding underscored their shared values and vision for their wedding day.
They shared a few photo priorities with me during our first call:
- Immediate family is important to us
- We’d like a candid approach with a relaxed vibe
- Shoot for the moment, not for the poses
On the wedding day I was warmly welcomed into their spaces, and treated like a friend of the family. The summer afternoon transitioned into a stormy evening that briefly knocked out the power in the reception. The dramatic weather only added to the atmosphere of the candle-lit, shared table in the Northridge Barn. The room buzzed with conversation and well-wishes as dinner was served and Meg and Tom’s vision of their family celebration came to life.
