I met Tom and Amy well over a year ago. That’s how most wedding couples plan, meeting and researching vendors and booking favorites well in advance of their big day. Tom and Amy are a lot of fun and we had a super time at their engagement session last summer. They’ve been together and supporting each other for over a decade, in no rush to make it official until they were ready and anxious to make it happen. But then COVID 19 came along and the world changed, threatening to derail the wedding plans they carefully made.
Spring came and went, and things threatened to get even worse, but they firmly decided that no matter what, they would stick with their original date at the Molly Pitcher Inn in Red Bank, NJ. In fact, they are the only one of my 2020 wedding couples to stick with their original date! I am so happy to say that their persistence paid off! With a scaled down guest list and a new plan for an entirely outdoor reception, it seemed like through sheer force of will they made it happen.
As a wedding photographer with more than a few years of experience under my belt, I am not ashamed to say I still get misty-eyed at every single wedding I photograph. Tom & Amy’s wedding was no exception. I was definitely crying some happy tears during their first dance – a mix of happiness and emotion that Amy & Tom were finally able to say their vows with their closest friends and family there to witness, and for me, to be back doing what I love the most. Congratulations Amy & Tom! Love is not cancelled.
